Last month HS2 announced that it was to delay the submission of the Hybrid Bill for Phase 2B of the route until 2020 so that it could work with the Northern Powerhouse Rail to enhance the East – West links and improve the service as a whole. Since then HS2 has subsequently published two key draft documents which will support the Hybrid Bill, for consultation

Key legislation for Phase 2B of the HS2 line to Manchester and Leeds, which was expected to be submitted to Parliament in 2019, will now not be submitted until 2020.

Although the Department of Transport advise that only 16 properties on the Shimmer Estate will be demolished to make way for the HS2 railway, the newly confirmed plans indicate that a much greater number of houses are likely to be affected.
